Memorial Day 2012

We had a very relaxing, fun Memorial Day. We truly missed the Smith Annual Memorial Day Bike Ride at Ann Morrison Park, so we made due with what we had.

And what we had was an invitation to a breakfast potluck with several good friends from our ward at a local park. We stuffed ourselves full of ham egg cups, creme brulee french toast, chocolate glazed donuts, fresh fruit, orange juice, muffins, cinnamon coffee cake, and chocolate muffins! It was wonderful!
It ALMOST felt like being at home because the adults were vast outnumbered by the kids and it was a crowd!

Not sure how the chocolate from the donut got clear up by her eye....
After the party, we went straight to the Platte River trail and rode bikes
(the spot on my leg is a HUGE wasp!)

Saw about a million of these little green lizards! Freaked Ellie out of her mind :) Ben and I kept trying to catch one, as we both used to catch them all the time as kids.
Either they got faster, or we got slower....
Pretty sure these guys had super lizard speed.

We also had a rare spotting of the wild "Spider Brookie"
THAT was a treat...
Happy Memorial Day!
We are truly grateful to our own ancestors who served our country proudly as well as the many others and the current family members that have served and are currently serving! You make a difference!
Thank you for our freedom!

Today Was A Good Day

We didn't do much, but we had fun today. Dad had late class so we went for a run and then ran errands. We dropped dad off at school and went to the park and library by Regis to wait for him to get done. It was fun.

Good Weekend

We had a lovely weekend. We got things started early on Thursday night by supporting our local Regis PT Class of 2014 at Coldstone Creamery by getting ice cream from their fundraiser. I had the sweet cream with a Heath bar... so heavenly!

Then when Ben got home on Friday, we headed out to dinner and Chuck E Cheese for Ellie's half birthday- gotta love those free tokens!!
Dinner at Golden Corral- Brook loves her some Apple Pie!

Saturday morning, I went to the church to help tie quilts for an eagle scout's project. It's called Project Linus for the hospitals. It was pretty fun- my thumb and index finger were feelin it!!
This is the quilt I donated:

Ben fixed the car while I was gone- he's so handy!! Love that man! He dropped me off and was back to get me after changing out all the spark plugs and coils before the quilts were done!

Home we went to clean up and finish writing our talks for church.
I LOVE these kiddos fresh outta the tub!

Then picked up the babysitter and went to the Denver Rapids soccer game with Sam and Jenna. It was so fun!! We tied. Pretty good game- very entertaining.

Sunday morning we got up early so we'd be on time for church- gave our talks (Hooray!! Off the hook for a few more years!) and lazed the day away at Sam and Jenna's. It was a very good weekend.
Brook: "It's cinnamon toast, but it's crunchy.  That's why they call it Cinnamon Toast Crunch." She loves to teach her little sis the ropes :)
(Notice the "lazing" in the background?)

Ben gave his talk on President Uchtdorf's talk about mercy and I gave mine on President Eyring's talk about trials. We both grew a lot from the preparation and study and have been greatly blessed by the opportunity. Can't wait to see how our insights will continue to benefit us in the future. The Lord is good!!

Ellie Talks

One of my favorites:
She does something naughty or wrong and says "Sahwee. It okay."
It's too cute.

In the car when we're driving she likes to sing
"doo doo dada doo doo dada" over an over.

Her favorite song to request is "I made it"

"Booky.... That a pwetty name. "

"Mommy!! Mommy!!! My yegs are hurting!!! My yegs!!"

Brook-isms 5/2012

Just after traveling to uncle Harry's wedding:
Did everyone get their potty trees??
What? What are you talking about?
You know, your toothbrush and toothpaste and shampoo and stuff?
Oh..... Toiletries.... Got it. Yep we got em!

Today in the car:
Mommy, is that a turkey or a robin?

It's a robin, Brook.
She is the cutest.

Break's Over- Back On Our Heads

For our last hurrah, Ben and I got to go mountain biking yesterday.
(Last time on my Trek- we sold it the next day... I'm ready for an upgrade!)
Who knew there were wild Cacti in Colorado???
Then Brook wanted to take dad out to celebrate one more day of break and she decided cheesecake factory was the place to go! So we took an early dinner/late lunch and headed over to Park Meadows Mall. We had a wonderful time.
This place is DELICIOUS!
Brook found a giant moose ;)
Ellie was worn out by the end of our break- she totally crashed!
We sure will miss having dad around all the time, but we are so proud of all his hard work and dedication to school! Good luck this semester dad!!! Even though you don't need it :)
