Rocky Mountain National Park

We stayed a couple nights in Estes Park during Ben's semester break with Sam & Jenna. We had such a great time! It's so nice to have a little family close by to spend time with! Don't know what I'd do without them!
Here's a few highlights of our mini vacation:

Making the drive- it's only 90 minutes! Perfect!
 Man Colorado, you are pretty!
 First nights dinner: Hamburgers
Making Rice Krispie Treats of the Chocolate Peanut Butter variety...
Doesn't Brook look so cute!?
Doesn't Jenna look so.... so.... creepy?
Brook posing like a chipmunk :)
They had fun totem poles all over the place!
Finally reaping the benefits of our labors... holy. delicious.
Breakfast on Friday: Cinnamon Roll Waffles.... oh my.
Unfortunately, it snowed all day Friday, so instead of enjoying the good ole outdoors, we enjoyed the Kinect :)
We also planned all grilled meals... so here's Ben grilling in the snow.
Poor guy
Saturday we caught a break and some decent weather and headed in to
Rocky Mountain National Park
 Once again, Brook cute....
Jenna creepy..... :)

 What a gorgeous place!

We saw a bear and two cubs!!! First time in the wild!!!

Made sandwiches at Bear Lake before a short hike

"Hey Brook, look- it's a brook!"
"Cool!!! Hey... what's an Ellie?"
This chipmunk stared us down, then ran straight at Brook and Ellie who were holding pieces of food. It seriously went straight at them and Uncle Sam had to kick it away!
 Ellie was really not amused...
(Update: Ellie was terrified of all animal life for about 2 months after this incident. Anytime she saw a bird or squirrel or anything, she would run screaming to the nearest adult. It was crazy!)
Elk were EVERYWHERE in Estes Park and RMNP

We had so much fun- we will DEFINITELY be going again soon!
