The sheik was my helper in the kitchen today. Okay, really I just hadn't given her a bath in WAY too long, so I made myself bathe her before I made the cake!
You might notice that the sides are dimpled looking... I don't have real cake pans. I bought the only ones I could find at Fred Meyer and they weren't exactly round. I should have trimmed the sides before frosting, but I didn't think about it until too late. Oh well- won't affect the taste, right? If it is as delicious as it looks, I will be investing in 9" round cake pans!
My best girl Jo and I found a pic of a cake decorated with flowers made out of almond slices that we were just DYING to try. So, since this recipe called for garnishing with said slices, I decided to go for it! Mine isn't as pretty as the magazine's, but I had fun!
Looks fudgy....
Looks fudgy....
Let's hope it is!
We are waiting to eat it tonight at 7 with Ben's folks. Hey, anyone in the greater Boise area- if you read this before 7 tonight, feel free to come over and join us- it makes 18 servings!
Just bring some vanilla ice cream with you!
